The Hoppings fun fair is Europe’s largest travelling funfair and is held at the end of June every year since 1882 in Newcastle Upon Tyne
When you visit Hoppings for yourself you can see why it has become such a big hit. There are over 60 rides appealing to all ages and sizes. Everything from rollercoaster’s and funhouses to teacups and big wheels. Alongside all of these rides are dozens of catering units offering a range of delicious food and refreshments.
It’s these reasons and many more which have made Hoppings such a big focal point for the region as showmen gather from all over the UK and beyond to perform for the thousands of attendee’s. What gives Hopping’s that unique atmosphere is that it’s steeped in heritage and tradition. Many young people attending today are grandchildren of local people who visited Hoppings themselves as children, many many decades ago.
