Once you’ve arrived in Newcastle, you’ll need to work out what activities you want to do first. Whether it’s visiting the 02 Academy to see your favourite band or visiting some of the great artistic and cultural attractions on offer, there’s so much to do in this jewel of the Northern crown that you’ll be hard-pressed on what to do first.

For those who love adventure and thrilling sports – ideal for stag weekends – then Newcastle is home to a fantastic array of activities like go karting, paintballing and even quad biking! If you fancy taking part in one of these, then make sure you’ve got everything prepared before you go. Search around the web for a reputable company for your activity and don’t choose one that looks too cheap. More often than not these places won’t have adequate health and safety regulations, which isn’t the most exciting thing to think of when you’re on holiday, but without them you might end up visiting one of our many Newcastle doctors, or even the personal injury solicitors in Newcastle. But choose a well-known activity provider and you’ll be sure to have a fantastic time.

More sedate activities are available in Newcastle, like a trip to one of the many art galleries including the Eletrik Sheep Gallery, the Biscuit Factory and the Laing Art Gallery. Or take in the history of Newcastle with a trip to the Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths and Museum or the Castle Keep of Newcastle. Finish off the day with dinner at a great restaurant: whatever your particular tastes, Newcastle has a host of different cuisines to cater for your tastes. Again, check out reviews of these restaurants online before booking in to make sure you find the best one and you keep your experience of Newcastle as enjoyable as possible!

We are excited to announce the return of the Junco Partners to The Journal Tyne Theatre’s Bistro Bar on Friday 8th July and Friday 25th November for another night of fantastic R ‘n’ B.

Formed in 1964, the Junco Partners started out playing to North East crowds in Newcastle and Sunderland. They later went on to play alongside the likes of The Who and Rod Stewart and when the band split in 1971 individual members played alongside great artists such as Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer.

After reforming once again in 1977, they gained wide success, capturing new audiences and attracting the attention of Television and Music producers. Now returned to their R’n'B roots, they continue to receive fantastic support from a growing and enthusiastic audience playing only at a few well selected gigs.

The weather shown for each day in the three day forecast represents the predominant weather expected on the day in question. This is calculated based on a weighting of different types of weather, so if a day is forecast to be sunny with the possibility of a brief shower, then we will see a sunny or partly cloudy rather than a rain cloud.

The maximum temperature is the highest temperature forecast between dawn and dusk, whereas the minimum temperature is the lowest temperature expected from dusk on the day in question to dawn the following day.

The wind speed and direction are the expected conditions at midday.
