Shopping in Newcastle
Newcastle rivals anywhere else in the country for the sheer number and variety of outlets. If it’s shopping heaven that you’re after, then look no further.
There are several major shopping areas in Newcastle city centre. The largest of these is the Eldon Square Shopping Centre, which incorporates Fenwick department store, and a John Lewis store.
The main shopping street in the city is Northumberland Street
There are also a whole range of independent specialist shops offering designer labels, art, antiques and crafts and much more, both in the city centre and in nearby Jesmond.
Other shopping centres in Newcastle include the relatively modern Eldon Garden and Monument Mall complexes, the Newgate Centre, Central Arcade and the traditional Grainger Market.
Newcastle is also a very short car or train ride away from the Metro Centre – Europes largest shopping complex.
